AI and consciousness, read against older maps
Every tradition Robert Shumake writes in — Ifá, Vedanta, Kundalini and Sri Vidya, Tibetan, Thai Theravada and Zen Buddhism, Tamil Siddha mysticism, Hermetic science — carries a detailed model of mind. Those models were built by observation over centuries and describe states, thresholds and failure modes with considerable precision.
Read alongside them, machine intelligence looks like a powerful account of pattern and prediction and a silent one about interiority, attention as practice, and the body as an instrument of knowing. The comparison is the useful part: it shows where the analogy holds and where it collapses.

Questions people ask
Can AI be conscious?
Nothing in these traditions describes consciousness as computation alone; they describe it as a trained state of an embodied being, with breath, attention and lineage as instruments. On that account current systems model outputs of mind without the conditions those models treat as constitutive.
What do older systems describe that AI does not?
Graded states of attention, the 114 chakras of the energy body, thresholds reached through breathwork and practice, and the ethical formation of the practitioner — a curriculum for changing the knower, not just the answer.
Why compare them at all?
Because both are knowledge technologies. Comparing the maps clarifies which claims about machine minds are technical, which are metaphysical, and which are marketing.
